Some piano, this, it's- You know, it not only it plays the piano, when I touch it... ♪ There's a washing machine and spin drier back here.
[LAUGHTER] Just in case something accidental happens at my age.
When you're near 65, you never know, anyway... [LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE] I have five black nine- feet Yamaha pianos scattered around the world for when I tour, and they all have women's names who play the piano.
For example there's an Aretha after Aretha Franklin, who is the most underrated piano player.
There's a Diana after my dearest friend Diana Krall.
There's a Nina after my favorite artist Nina Simone.
And there are two pianos named after British piano players who, when I was growing up as little boy, I idolized.
One is called Kay for Kay Cavendish, and the other for Winifred Atwell, who was a beautiful Barbadian lady or Bajan lady, as they say, who had two pianos, a black one and an upright.
And I thought that was so grand, she said, "Now, I'm going to go to my other piano."
I thought that was incredibly impressive at the age of about five years of age.
So, anyway, they are my pianos scattered around the world and of course, I had the red piano here which was called Nikita.
So I had to think of a name for this one.
And funnily enough, Madonna did not make the cut.
[LAUGHTER AND CHEERING] Nearly, but not quite.
So, anyway, we thought about it and we decided that the piano was going to be called Blossom.
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] Blossom is named after a brilliant American jazz pianist and singer called Blossom Dearie, who- if you ever get the chance to listen to, go and investigate her.
She is not with us anymore, but she's fantastic.
Anyway, so this piano is pretty special.
For example, if I go like this... ♪ [CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] It tells you what album it comes from.
If I play you this... ["Daniel"] ♪ ♪ You know what song it is because there's a plane taking off.
Pretty good, huh?
We're just waiting for sponsorship from one of the airlines to just, you know, fulfill our coffers a little more.
And Kiki Dee, bless her heart, Kiki my dear friend, who is the same age as me and will be on the 4th of March... the same age as me.
She's never been to Vegas, but now she has.
["Don't Go Breaking My Heart"] ♪ ♪ Don't go breaking my heart... ♪ Good evening, Kik.
Now, Yamaha, in their infinite wisdom, made this piano with a glass top.
And they came up with the idea, if I was bored... Now how would I be bored playing for your guys, I mean it's ridiculous.
But, anyway, they s- in this part of the piano here, which you can't see, is an aquarium.
[LAUGHTER] So, it's a pretty wonderful piano.
Thank you for Yamaha for doing it for me, and I will be having sex with it later.

[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] I've been writing with Bernie Taupin, my lyricist, it's our 46th year, this year.
And it's been an amazing partnership.
And, some of you will probably know how we write, but most of you probably don't.
I- I get a lyric from him, in the old days it was hand written and then it was typed, and then it was faxed, and now it's emailed.
And I go into another room and I write the song.
We've never been in the same room ever when we've written a song, and- that's led to many happy memories because, you know, it's so exciting when you finish a song and you really think you've done a great job to the lyric and you call him in and he- he really likes it.
And, that's never faded, from the minute we first started writing up to the present day.
And there are many memorable songs that I can remember writing: "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" in Colorado, at 8 o'clock in the morning.
I'll always remember that one.
And hauling him out of bed to go and listen to it.
But the one that sticks in my mind most is when we were living with my parents in North London, in their- in their flat- their apartment, and he gave me this lyric.
This was very early on in our relationship.
And we'd written some songs before, and we'd- we'd written some nice songs, but not really any great ones, I didn't think.
Anyway, he gave me this lyric and I went into the living room, sat down at the piano and read the lyric.
and was blown away by the fact that a 17-year- old could come up with something so poignant and so beautiful, and I wrote the song very quickly.
And I would not have had the life I've had, the career I've had, I wouldn't be here talking to you about it if it wasn't for this song.

[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] [INAUDIBLE] [CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] [CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] I've also played so many memorable shows in so many different parts of the world, but one really sticks out in my mind.
And it was the concert for 9/11 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
A group of artists came together to pay tribute to the stoic people of New York, the fallen, the standing, the rescuers and the American people in general.
And it was a privilege to be there and to be a part of it.
But it was also a bit of a conundrum, what was I going to play?
What would be a fitting song?
And obviously "Crocodile Rock" was not an option, "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting"...
It was difficult and then I suddenly realized that I'd written a song about New York on the Honky Château record.
And the song's called "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters," and I thought, "I am going to sing that."
And- It was a good choice and it was an evening that anyone who played there will never forget.

[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] It's an amazing life, and a privilege to be able to play music for you people.
And don't think I am not grateful but it is even more of a privilege to be able to play it with the musicians and the singers I have on stage with me.
And I am gonna give you a one-by-one introduction to all of them, and you've got to give them a big Las Vegas reception.
First of all, the ladies.
Good evening, ladies.
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] My little red devils up there.
On the left hand side, the fabulous Tata Vega.
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in her own right, she was a founder member of Sly and the Family Stone, Rose Stone!
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] The fabulous Jean Witherspoon!
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] And the beautiful lady with the amazing high voice, Lisa Stone!
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] We have two new members of the band and they are an act in their own right, we are just so lucky that they chose to play with us they are called the 2Cellos!
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] And, they are from Croatia.
And they are incredibly talented and incredibly young, which is great because it lowers the average age of the band by 30 years.
[LAUGHTER] So thank you, guys.
On the right-hand side, Stjepan Hauser.
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] And on the left-hand side Luka Sulic!
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] On drums, percussion and vocals, John Mahon!
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] On keyboards, Kim Bullard!
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] On bass guitar and vocals, Bob Birch!
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] On percussion- this is someone you don't want to meet in a dark alley after the show.
[LAUGHTER] On percussion, the incredible Ray Cooper.
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] An original member of the Elton John Band from 1969, on drums and vocals, playing and singing better than ever, originally from England, now living in Los Angeles, Nigel Olsson!
[CHEERING AND APPLAUSE] And last but not least, on guitar and vocals, someone who joined the band 40 years ago.
An original member of the Elton John Band he wasn't, but he joined soon afterwards.
He was actually a member of the Scottish super group Toots & the Fruits.
[LAUGHTER] Davey Johnstone!
